Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I become a member of this ministry?
A. Any registered member of St. Thomas Aquinas who is of Confirmation age or older is eligible to serve as a Greeter. Call the parish office or contact Chris Coutre.
Q. Do I have to serve at all Holy Masses?
A. No. Greeters are asked to select one Holy Mass that they attend regularly and are scheduled to serve only for that specific Holy Mass time. The number of times a person is scheduled to serve depends upon the overall number of Greeters currently available for each Holy Mass. Ideally, if there are enough members of the ministry, each Greeter would serve one Sunday per month.
Q. Do I need to serve during holiday or special Masses?
A. Greeters are scheduled for all holiday and special Masses. If you are unavailable to serve on a particular date or dates, please let the ministry leader know.
Q. What if I am scheduled to serve, but am unable to attend that Holy Mass for some reason?
A. All Greeters receive a current contact list of all the other Greeters so that they can contact someone to swap or fill in for them in the event they cannot serve at their scheduled time.
Q. Is there any formal training required?
A. Yes. Formal training is required and provided for new Greeters. The frequency of training sessions varies depending on when and how many new people join the ministry.
