Volunteers are at the heart of the work we do at our parish of St. Thomas Aquinas!  Below is a list of current volunteer needs. (A complete list of ministries and ongoing volunteer opportunities can be found here.)

Seeking Medical Professional Volunteers

Over the past several months, the number of medical emergencies during Mass has increased significantly. Although "911 Emergency" responds quickly and arrives on the scene usually in under 10 minutes, it is important that we are well prepared and equipped to provide assistance until the Medics arrive.

We are asking all Medical Professionals in the Parish to complete a simple voluntary registration form. This includes Doctors, Physicians' Assistants, Nurses, Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians. The Medical Professionals will be asked to identify themselves to an Usher as they enter the Church for Mass. The Usher will then advise the Mass Captain regarding the identity and location of the Medical Professional. In the event of an emergency, the Mass Captain will bring that individual (s) to the affected person (s) to provide temporary care until the Medics arrive.  To volunteer, please contact Annette Morales.
 

Marketing/Communications Specialist

The Evangelization Ministry needs a volunteer with Marketing and Communication Skills to assist on a project to develop a parish-wide evangelization strategy and to promote the various ministries and activities offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Youth Ministry Volunteers

We are looking for adults to help in our youth ministry programs!
High School Youth Group meets each Sunday evening from 6:15-8pm and is looking for adults who are excited to share their faith with teens. Our Middle School Youth Group meets on Wednesdays and provides a place for fellowship and service for our 6th-8th grade teens. Children's Liturgy of the Word

We are in need of teachers and assistants for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word -- previously known as Story Time -- on Sundays. Can you teach or assist once a month, or once every other month, at the 9:30am or 11:30am Mass? If so, please contact Elizabeth Hutchins at 704-455-7965 or khutchins3@ctc.net.

Food Pick Up and Delivery

Can you spare 1 hour once or even twice a week to pick up perishable food from a grocery store in the University Area and deliver to the Men's Shelter of Charlotte? If so, our food pick up and delivery ministry -- "Share Thy Bread" -- needs you! We are looking for volunteers to help with pick up and deliveries in the morning hours. Faith Formation Volunteers Needed

We are in need of Catechists for the 2012-13 school year.  Please consider volunteering your time and talent for this very important role in our parish -- a teacher of the faith for our young people!   Please contact the Faith Formation Office.
