As part of the new evangelization, the four-year Why Catholic? program provides an opportunity in a home setting to foster and share our personal connection to Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. Meeting with our brothers and sisters in small groups for two six-week sessions each year (during Lent and in October through mid-November) renews our faith and love and builds Christian community and support.
The Why Catholic? program leads participants on a journey through the four divisions or pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church: creed, sacraments, morality, and prayer.
One catechism division is explored each year:
2007: creed
2008: sacraments
2009: morality
2010: prayer
Group registration begins four weeks prior to the start of each six-week session. We are in need of additional group facilitators, who lead groups of up to twelve persons in their homes.
Parish groups currently meet each day of the week, except Sunday and Friday.
