Ministry : Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

This ministry helps to distribute the Blessed Sacrament at Mass and to the sick and homebound.

Q. Who is eligible to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion?
A. Any registered member of St. Thomas Aquinas who has received all the sacraments of initiation, is 16 years of age, and is in good standing with the Catholic Church is eligible to serve.
Q. How often do Extraordinary Ministers serve and at which Masses?
A. On the average, Extraordinary Ministers are schedule to serve once per month. Each minister is asked to select one Mass time for scheduling purposes.
Q. If I am an Extraordinary Minister at St. Thomas Aquinas, does this mean I can assist at Masses at other churches?
A. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are delegated the authority to serve their home church at the request of their pastor. This delegation does not transfer to other churches.
Q. How does one become an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion?
